Log Bridges 11-15 Metres

(Laminated Log Footbridges)

Please note: Due to our difficulty in obtaining supplies of timber girders for these longer bridges this product is being phased out. Contact OSA for more specific details.

The laminated log footbridge is used for spans from 11-15 metres where a rustic look or a lower Outdoor Structures Australia - Laminated Log Footbridges priced option than the metal truss bridge is required. The bridge shown is situated on Queensland's Gold Coast and was required to provide koalas with access between two areas of bush.

The bridge is built by facing two matching logs and bolting the sawn faces together. A custom built tool accurately forms a series of vertical groves along the girders' length where they meet and heavy galvanized sheer plates are driven into the slots. The two girders effectively work as one unit and long spans can be achieved with minimal movement.

The superstructure is built on top of the girders. The Deckwood deck runs lengthwise. There are two handrail options, one with outriggers as shown below or with the posts bolted down the sides of girders.

Outdoor Structures Australia - Laminated Log FootbridgesThe bridge superstructures can be built so they join on a corbel over pier which allows a bridge of any length to be built.

The structure is normally delivered to site fully assembled but they can be supplied in a knockdown format.

This is a very heavy structure with weights of 10 tonne not uncommon. Crane and vehicle access is a major consideration when determining the suitability of this bridge type.
