Pedestrian Log Bridges to 8 Metres

Log footbridges are an effective and low cost means of supplying your footbridge requirements up to 8 metre spans. The bridges are built on straight log girders that have been faced on the top surface. Deckwood decking is fastened directly to the log using our patented Landscape Screws. Occasionally, the superstructure is supplied as a deck with only a 75x75mm kerb but normally they have handrails as illustrated.

The narrowest width available is 1.41 metres clear between the handrail but decks with widths up to 3.0 metres clear are supplied in Australia. Bridges are usually supplied fully assembled and delivered to site ready to be installed but are available in knock down condition with re-assembly instructions. Long bridges are achieved by joining the spans on corbels over piers.

Note: The pedestrian bridge design is certified for spans up to 10 metres but log availability has meant that we can only supply spans that measure 7.8m centre to centre of hold downs, 8.3m overall.

The girders are mounted into 200 x 250mm capsills which are shaped to accept the round girders. This capsill is pre-drilled for the hold down bolts. The bridge hold down is very simple. The bridge is lifted into place on its abutments, with a spacer (25-50mm) between the capsill and the abutment.

Holes are drilled in the abutment for the hold down bolts which are then secured with epoxy. The gap between the abutment and the sill is closed with dry pack cement under the girders.

Longer bridges are accommodated by joining on a corbel sitting on a pier. Standard certified abutment and pier drawings are supplied with these bridges.

Modifications can be made to suit the customer's requirements.
