The Outdoor Structures storyThe original company, Gatton Sawmilling Co., was founded in 1950 by Mr. Edgar D. Stubbersfield in partnership with others. Edgar was a builder but had become so dissatisfied with the quality of the timber available for house construction that he started his own sawmill. Our business was founded with a commitment to quality. This policy continues to this day and is evidenced by our products being formally recognised as being of exceptional quality. We traded from the same premises in Gatton since our inception, adding to our initial sawmilling activities a planing mill as well as a treatment plant, cartage division, logging operation and private forests. Gatton, where the business is situated, is a small university town (6,000 people) in South East Queensland about 1 hours' drive west of the State capital, Brisbane. It is also on the main transport routes to southern states. In January 1997 the business was split into separate trading entities. This allowed Ted Stubbersfield (Edgar's son) to concentrate on weather exposed timber structures for both domestic and export markets. Early in 2000 Gatton Sawmilling Co. changed its name to Outdoor Structures Australia Pty. Ltd. In 2012, the time came to close Outdoor Structures and for Ted to go into semi-retirement. Ted made an arrangement with Chris Blackledge who had been in charge of production to lease the premises, purchase the equipment and continue manufacturing our products under license. He started a new company called Infrastrucxion Pty Ltd as the vehicle to do this. Ted has been engaged as a consultant to assist Chris in the transition. Our aim is to constantly improve and add to our already extensive range of products. Contact Ted Stubbersfield Contact Infrastrucxion Or visit our enquiry page. Australian Technology Showcase video

"We started with $24,000, a planer on lease, about $90,000 in stock and some land leased from the family. We have since changed the company name, rebuilt the treatment plant to modern environmental standards, added a kiln, new planer, out-feed and storage shed."
