"We started with $24,000, a planer on lease, about $90,000 in stock and some land leased from the family. We have since changed the company name, rebuilt the treatment plant to modern environmental standards, added a kiln, new planer, out-feed and storage shed." The community was originally based on farming but now is quite varied, including a campus of the University of Queensland. The original company, Gatton Sawmilling Co., was founded in 1950 by Mr. E.D. Stubbersfield in partnership with others. Mr. Stubbersfield had been a builder in the district for many years prior to this and, having become dissatisfied with the quality of the timber available for house construction, he founded his own sawmill. A commitment to quality was the founding principle of our business. This policy continues and is evidenced by our products being recognised as being of exceptional quality. We have traded from the same premises since our inception, adding to our initial sawmilling activities a planing mill as well as a treatment plant, cartage division, logging operation and private forests. The company structure was changed in July 1986 whereby the assets are held by a family company, Stubbersfield and Althaus, and a company, Vanbrace Pty. Ltd. which operated the business activities of Gatton Sawmilling Company and Gatton Building Centre. In January 1997 the business was split into separate trading entities. This allowed management to concentrate on both our domestic market and ever increasing export and local markets. Early in 2000 Gatton Sawmilling Co. commenced trading as Outdoor Structures Australia. Our aim is to constantly improve and add to our already extensive range of products. To contact Outdoor Structures Australia please see our details below (or use our Enquiry Form).
